Lake Kivu is the 10th deepest lake in the world, but sits at 4500 feet altitude in the mountains with volcanos on the bottom of the lake. In the middle of the lake -- an hour's boat ride in -- is an uninhabited island that grows incredible coffee. One of the rarest and most celebrated coffees of the world, the importer even made a movie trailer about it to build the anticipation of the harvest arriving. The coffee dances on your tongue with deep red winey tastes of elderberry and chocolate and figs and caramel. Very much a dessert coffee or special occasion treat
