Gunpowder tea is a really popular green tea in America, partly because of the low pricepoint, and partly because of the full body and robust taste that is stronger than all the other green teas.
This is the highest grade of Gunpowder, also nicknamed "Pinhead Gunpowder" due its tightly rolled, smaller sized pellets. The tea leaves are rolled up into little pellets and pan fried. The leaves unfurl as they steep, and can be successfully steeped up to 3 times before being discarded. This is sometimes drank in China, but a lot of it is exported to Morocco, where it is a custom to brew it and then add spearmint and honey. A guest there is rude if they don't drink a minimum of two cups of Moroccan Mint Gunpowder tea while visiting the host's home. This is a pre-made blend of gunpowder with mint, so all you need to do is steep it, and add sweetener.
Ingredients: Organic Gunpowder Green Tea, Organic Peppermint, Organic Spearmint
Tasting Notes: Aromatic, Full Bodied, Crisp Mint, Roasty Sweetness
Steep: 1.5 tsp of tea for 8oz water. Water temperature: 175. Steep time 3 minutes. Sweetener: Recommended
Approximately 14 tsp in a 1 ounce package.
