Ethiopia Jima Gera Estate

Ethiopia Jima Gera Estate

This natural process coffee comes from the Jima region (also called Djimma or Jimmah or various other spellings all pointing to the same region). It's in the Southwest portion of Ethiopia which lies closer to Sudan but still in the perfect climate for good coffee. It produces quite a bit of Ethiopian's coffee, but a lot of it is grade 3 and grade 4 and a lot of it is washed process. This one is a grade 1 single estate natural sundried coffee packed in grainpro bags.  They smell very sweet when you open the bag. The GERA Estate provides housing, childcare and education, clean drinking water, electricity, healthcare, and recreational facilities for all of its employees free of charge.

Roast it very light. Just barely out of 1st cracks. It has bright pineapple and blackberry notes, sweetness, slight winey tart sensations on the side of the tongue, and a sweet clean aftertaste. It's not predominately any one fruit flavor, but its a mixed berry juice. While it is certainly enjoyable as normal coffee, it crushes it for iced coffee and cold brew coffee because of the fruit sweetness.

US Arrival: June 2022
