El Salvador Black Honey
El Salvador Black Honey
This coffee from El Savador is a special microlot from Los Pirineos of a special heirloom varietal of coffee called bourbon elite. My understanding is that this is the only farm that grows it commercially, and they've had it on their farm for over 100 years. It is a black honey process and delicious both as coffee and as espresso. There are notes of grape, citrus, and chocolate cherries with just the right balance of tart and sweet.
We really like it when it is brewed in a french press -- it has the soft mouthfeel, fruit, and cocoa tastes, and pleasant finish that you would hope to find in a honey coffee. It's a great companion to sweet breakfast foods like pancakes. It's a little more boring and ordinary in a drip brewer, but still overall pleasant coffee.
