This is an unusual organic Bolivia Estate coffee that has decided to differentiate themselves by growing a coffee that was brought over from Indonesia (commonly known as Java varietal) and their coffee doesn't taste like a Bolivian coffee. You can roast it medium or dark, and it does have some earthy, rooty, spicy notes, but also has some smooth cocoa nutty notes. It's a cross between an Indonesian and South American coffee, and I don't know what else to compare it to. It's really in its own category.

On the map, you'll find Bolivia landlocked between Peru and Brazil. This can make it hard to export as passage to port requires co-operation of a competing country. Bolivian farmers also have a reputation of being "hard to work with." So a microlot Bolivia doesn't come on market all that often, and I snatched this one up excitedly.

95% of Bolivia coffee comes out of the Yungas region (often Caranavi), but this one is from Las Paz which is in a ridiculously hard to source region way up in the Andes Mountains. It's hard to describe the mouthfeel, but that's my favorite part of this coffee. Its just inherently satisfying as you drink it.

I like roasting it about 5 seconds into the second cracks, but there's a pretty wide margin of roasting it lighter or darker than that where you have a really interesting mug of coffee.
