This coffee comes from a brand new co-op in a remote area of Ethiopia south of Yirgacheffe. The Halo Bariti co-op has the bragging rights of having the highest altitude in all of Ethiopia, and they grow native heirloom varietals that were already growing wild in this region.
This lot is the dry processed (natural) (sun-dried) beans which make them extra fruity and sweet. The coffee has a real sparkle to it, a jammy berry taste, and is very sweet and aromatic. The body has a nice thick creaminess to it that makes me think of vanilla. The end of the sip has no earthiness or fermented notes. All in all it is a fantastic mug of coffee, with its smoothness and sweetness and interesting but not overpowering fruit notes. We think it's a great Ethiopian and are excited to be supporting this co-op again as they continue to cultivate this new region of the country.
