Shipping times

Shipping is expensive. We spend an average of $8.72 per package that we ship. The very lightest cheapest packages cost us $5.35. The most expensive cost us around $40. Most of them are right around the $8-$9 range.

We charge you an average of $2.87 per package. Most packages, we charge you $3. A few are free. A few are much higher. In the month of June, we lost $37,287 on postage costs.

So I know you get upset when a package takes more than 2 days to get to you. A surprising amount of packages do get to you in 2 days - it's really a modern miracle. It's fascinating if you think about it. 88% of packages in June got delivered in 1 to 3 business days. But we are spending wild amounts of money on the best shipping options out there to get you your package as fast as is feasibly possible, and if it takes 4 or 5 days, I'm really sorry, but sometimes it happens. If there was any way to avoid it, we would love to see it be 100%, but it's not 100%. Sometimes your package could be late.

We are the biggest customer in our zip code of both the Post Office and of FedEx, and they bend over backwards to make sure our packages are prioritized.

When it doesn't get to you on time, it stinks. It's a bummer. It's not the norm. It happens. It's not anyone's fault. We're doing our best here and so are the shipping companies. Charging you more for shipping isn't going to get it to you any faster. We're taking the hit on shipping costs, we're making sure your orders get out same day, and once it's out of the shop, knock on wood and cross your fingers. It'll prolly get to you in no time, but try not to be mad at us if it doesn't.

As a FedEx Express employee here in Fairbanks Alaska I am so grateful of the accommodation I get from happy mug with 2 day shipping. Approaching my 1 year anniversary of both light and dark roasters choice subscription every 3 weeks, There have only been two shipments late. I have not even received the same coffee one time in a whole year. This is by far one of the best experiences I have had with a subscription service of any kind.

Wow! I really appreciate your openness and honesty. I had no idea you all were taking such a loss when it comes to shipping :( Just know there are plenty of us coffee enthusiasts out here that love you and appreciate your honesty and quality of service. I finally got my roasting station setup at home after moving so I switched from buying roasted coffee to green coffee from you all. If there was any way to pay a bit more for shipping or not worry about getting it in 2 days, I definitely would.

When I follow the shipments on Shop it is always predictable where the coffee is and how long it will take (2 days). When there is a 1 day delay USPS messed up and you can see where. Doesn’t seem right that you lose so much on shipping

My girlfriend and I appreciated the quick shipping. We had no idea how much of a loss you take on shipping. I personally wouldn’t mind not getting the coffee within 2 days if it meant that your shipping costs were cheaper. cheers
